Appraisal – Evaluation schemes

Overview

This section describes the various evaluation schemes available for configuration in the appraisal of an employee. These schemes were designed to accommodate the appraisals of wide ranging job positions from a front line employee to senior management in the Enterprise.

 

Scheme 1 – Evaluation by Manager

The manager initiates the appraisal cycle and provides feedback about the employee’s performance. Employee can view the feedback after the manager completes the appraisal cycle. Refer the diagram below for the sequence.

 

 

In this scheme sign off from the employee is NOT required. This scheme is mainly for the front line staff in an organization.

 

Scheme 2 – Evaluation by Manager with employee inputs

In this scheme, the manager initiates the appraisal. Employee lists the tasks (or) activities performed by him during the appraisal window. He can also lists the achievements and provide additional comments about the areas of improvement, development needs etc. Completed form by the employee is sent to the Manager for his feedback and rating. Employee does NOT rate his performance. Refer the diagram below for the sequence.

 

 

After manager completes the rating, employee has to sign off on the feedback. On employee sign off the overall performance score is evaluated. Employee at any time can refer the feedback from his performance review history page.

Scheme 3 – Evaluation Self & Manager rating

In this scheme, the manager initiates the appraisal. Employee lists the tasks (or) activities performed by him during the appraisal window. As part of this employee rates his performance (self rating). He can also lists the achievements and provide additional comments about the areas of improvement, development needs etc. Completed form by the employee is sent to the Manager for his feedback and rating. Refer the diagram below for the sequence.

 

 

After manager completes the rating, employee has to sign off on the feedback. On employee sign off the overall performance score is evaluated. The overall score is based on the Manager rating.  Employee at any time can refer the feedback from his performance review history page.

 

Scheme 4 – Evaluation Self, Manager & Reviewer rating

Similar to Scheme 3. After the manager completes the evaluation process and rates the performance, the evaluation form is sent to the Reviewing Manager. Reviewing manager reconciles the feedback from the employee and the manager and provides the final rating. Refer the diagram below for the sequence.

 

Employee sign off is NOT required. The overall score is based on the Reviewer rating.  Employee at any time can refer the feedback from his performance review history page.

 

Q&A

1. Can I change the appraisal scheme once started?

You can not change the scheme once an appraisal is initiated. You have to delete the existing (Manager or HR manager can do it) appraisal cycle and start a new cycle with the correct scheme.

2. Appraisal cycle for an employee is complete. The employee has signed off on the feedback. Can I delete or invalidate the appraisal?

No. You can not delete the appraisal once it is completed.
